"Early in the morning of Monday, June 28, 1999, 16 year old trek participant
Jason Ploch died of an apparent asthama attack while camping in the Harlan
area. Emergency CPR was administered by the camp staff and Philmont medical
staff responded to the situation. Ploch, a native of San Antonio, TX, was
the crew chief and had completed all but the last day of his ten-day hike."
