This is a quick note of thanks to anyone who cares to listen.
Can you believe it?! Exactly one year ago yesterday (8/11) I arrived in Ithaca. Now, one year later, I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone in the CCC Graduate Forum for becoming a part of the fabric of my life.
Thanks to all of you for accepting me as I am, despite my moderately advanced age and my great many faults (most of which you STILL don't know about!).
I kid around with people (and myself) a lot, but that's just my quirky way of showing how much I care about you. So that means ... If I DON'T pick on you, WATCH OUT!!
Thanks also for making me feel welcome in a new academic environment and for becoming some of my dearest friends ever. I will never forget any of you, and I hope we can always keep in touch through the wonders of modern technology.
If it sounds like I'm going somewhere, I am afraid I have some BAD NEWS. It seems that my status as "Visiting Fellow without Salary" has been renewed through August 16, 1997, or at least until I figure out how to cut through the chain that they seem to have recently attached to my computer desk chair.
I couldn't leave Ithaca right now if I tried, unless I could find someone to do the Data Processing Service Job that I have been doing for the Collaboration, which isn't likely.
We are just going to have to put up with each other for a little while longer. I hope that this is not too traumatic an experience for anyone. If it is, may I suggest that you ...
( : I now remind you to see four paragraphs above : )
HAVE A NICE DAY!
Take Care,
Steve
